INSULWOOD™ FAQs
General Questions
The cement and acrylic coatings are embossed by a template created from actual, real wood planks.
3-dimensional, pre-finished, and ready to install either vertically or horizontally. No additional surface staining or painting required during installation.
Real wood is a material that requires a high level of regular maintenance. It is prone to warping easily and attracts insects that can cause damage to the rest of the structure.
It is also screwed on through the exterior wall creating potential air and water access.

InsulWood™ looks the most genuine and has the texture and feel of real wood.

InsulWood is made from long lasting, tried and tested materials such as cement, acrylics, & fiberglass over insulation. This combination provides a durable finish.

A wide variety of standard wood colors are offered. These include most typically used colors such as Cedar, Walnut and Oak. Custom colors are also available.
InsulWood™ may never need to be repainted or stained. The exterior product components are designed for the typical design life of the building. Many such facades are in excess of 60 years.
All exterior wall claddings are susceptible to damage, particularly at ground level. InsulWood™ is a high impact, multi cement layered panel that resists by design most common impacts. Should damage occur, it can be spot repaired with putty cement, and InsulWood™ matching exterior stain. The rich 3-dimensional depth of grain and authentic shading allows for easy blending and surface color hiding.

No special equipment required. A hand saw, table saw, or chop saw owned by all contractors and most “do-it-yourselfers” will suffice. Our installers have had best results with the Sabercut 7 in. general purpose cured concrete, brick and masonry segmented diamond blade.
It could be. If you have ever hung drywall, taped, meshed, coated, sanded & painted the joints with seamless results?, then likely.
No high-end special equipment such as pneumatic nailers, compressors or diamond saw blades required.
The finished surface is factory perfect determined, lending itself to the “skilled homeowner” if need be.
InsulWood™ is acceptable for combustible wood frame residential construction and type V commercial construction.
InsulWood™ is less combustible than the wood it replaces.
Technical Questions

Yes, but interlocked and fitted by a patented design. Vertically by tongue and groove. The ends are four-sided tongue and groove technology. This ensures the vertical and horizontal aesthetic reveals to be consistent and exact during installation and not at the mercy of installer craftsmanship.

The standard size is 1 ½” thick x 6” wide wood grain face x 8’ long.
Even better. 2-3 times higher R value of real wood.
InsulWood™ can be installed to most common exterior substrates both existing and new.
InsulWood™ Panels are glued, not screwed. This ensures the wall system is never breached with common nails & traditional screws. InsulWood™ is adhered over an air weather barrier. The adhesive is industry proven and readily available. It allows for the evacuation of incidental water & any unwanted moisture.

Yes, we have made many custom sizes to accommodate variable construction site conditions. The 6” standard face of InsulWood™ was determined by the most “wood like” appearance in most claddings currently available. It is the engineered with vertical and horizontal pre-determined reveals that make it look authentic.

Often referred to as detailing or compartmentalizing, many options are available. InsulWood™ offers such “termination trim” that can surround these areas. However, readily available vinyl, wood, plastic & metal trims can be sourced. Many doors and windows have “jamb extensions” that could accommodate.
